Dyslexia

Dyslexia is probably the most commonly known learning difficulty, but it is often misunderstood.  There is a lot more to dyslexia than problems with reading and spelling.

What’s it like having dyslexia?

Adults with dyslexia often display difficulties with phonology (the sounds of language), memory and information processing.  They have difficulty understanding how to spell words,  taking in meaning when reading, and expressing their thoughts in writing. They may also experience problems with organisational skills.  Adults with dyslexia often do well because they have developed good coping strategies. However, issues with confidence and self-esteem are prevalent due to prolonged difficulties experienced in formal education and career progression.
