How fair are examinations?

Do you think exams are fair?  Do you think that people with disabilities are treated fairly when it comes to examinations.   Within the UK, people with SpLD are often given Access Arrangements in the form of additional time, typically 25%.  Does this create a level playing field?

About Dyslexia would like to hear from people who received additional time, or other concessions in examinations.  Tell us if you found this helpful and in particular, tell us how you made use of the extra time.   Was it enough or do you think you really needed a different type of adjustment.  For example, would an oral examination have been better for you?   Or perhaps you think that examinations are not the way forward and it would be better to assess people via an entirely different system.
